Our Story
Paupack’s story begins with a simple idea. Serve the community well, take care of people, and build something that lasts.
The company was purchased by Walter Kostige and his wife Madelyn as Paupack Coal in 1937, serving local homes at a time when reliability and trust mattered above all else. That foundation carried forward when the business was passed to their daughter Linda (Kostige) Strong and her husband Mike Strong, who continued serving the region as energy needs evolved.
As heating methods changed, Paupack transitioned from coal to fuel oil, becoming Paupack Fuel and continuing its role as a dependable local provider. The company remained rooted in the same values while adapting to the needs of a growing and changing community.
The next chapter began when Chris Strong and his wife Dawn purchased the business. During their leadership, Paupack expanded beyond fuel delivery to include plumbing and heating services, allowing the company to support customers more fully and take a more hands-on role in the systems that power their homes.
Today, Paupack is led by Ryan Strong, representing the next generation of family ownership. Under Ryan’s direction, the company has continued to evolve, adding HVAC and electrical services to meet the demands of modern homes and commercial spaces.
While the services have grown, the expertise has not been diluted. With four separate divisions led by four different division managers with about 100 combined years of experience, we remain focused on delivering the highest quality of work in each field.
Today, Paupack remains a family-owned company focused on thoughtful design, careful workmanship, and systems built to perform reliably for years to come. Generations of experience guide the work we do today, and the trust earned over decades continues to shape how we operate tomorrow.
